The second group of Modern Apprentices to work with NHS Forth Valley have been extremely successful – with 13 out of 14 securing jobs. They are pictured at a recent Graduation ceremony where they were presented with certificates to mark the completion of their year-long programme.

The apprentices, who are between the ages of 16 and 24, were recruited in 2017 to work in business and administration roles in a number of departments across NHS Forth Valley including Health Records, the Oncology Unit and  the Women and Children’s Directorate.

The one year opportunity gave them a chance to develop their knowledge and gain experience in the workplace, as well as work towards a SVQ level 2 qualification in Business and Administration, delivered in partnership with Forth Valley College.

Alex Linkston, Chairman of NHS Forth Valley, said: “I am delighted to celebrate the successful outcome of our Modern Apprentices programme. Taking on Modern Apprentices within NHS Forth Valley not only helps provide valuable work experience and training for local young people, but also gives us the opportunity to recruit the workforce of the future.”

Forth Valley College Principal, Dr Ken Thomson, said: “It is great to see another cohort of MAs graduate from this innovative programme and we wish them well in their future careers. We are delighted that the partnership between the college and NHS Forth Valley is working so well and we look forward to seeing it grow in the future.”

The Modern Apprenticeship programme supports a target by the Scottish Government to reduce levels of youth unemployment by 40% in 2021.
