Twelve young women from Clackmannanshire Secondary Schools celebrated their successful completion of a Play Mentor programme with family, friends and well wishers at a celebration in Alloa Town Hall on the 28 May 2019.
The Play Mentors successfully attended 7 days of works placements in nurseries and primary schools leading play activities and games. The programme also involves studying play and child development at Forth Valley College. The girls received a graduate certificate as well as a Saltire Award and will be supported by Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface to take up Volunteering placements over the summer.
The 12 week long programme is managed by NHS Forth Valley’s Health Promotion Service and Action for Children, in partnership with Clackmannanshire Council’s Education Services and Forth Valley College.
Pamela Vannan, Senior Health Promotion Officer, NHS Forth Valley, said: “The Play Mentors have done a fantastic job and we are all really proud of their hard work and commitment over the last few months. The skills and experience gained during the programme will stand them in good stead for a wide range of education, training and work opportunities and we wish them the very best of luck for the future.”
